Holi Festival of Colors Welcomes Spring in India and Around the World
The Holi Festival Welcomes Spring……
And we need it!
Across the East in America, we have had a brutal winter. The Polar Vortex has brought the deep freeze to many. Bone chilling single digit temperatures have been common as have deep snow storms. Therefore, we welcome Spring with open arms. The warmer weather has been a true blessing. So all Spring festivals hold great interest!
Holi Festival of Colors is a spring festival commemorating Lord Krishna’s play with the gopikas using herbally enhanced coloured water, also known as festival of colours. Holi is a Hindu spring festival descended from an ancient Hindu religious festival which has become popular even with non-Hindu communities in many parts of South Asia, as well as people of other communities.
It is primarily observed in India, Nepal and other regions of the world with significant populations of Hindus. The festival has, in recent times, spread in parts of Europe and North America as a spring celebration of love and wild colors.
