Stevie Wonder Speaks Out About Ferguson & The Garner Verdict
“We Need to Fix This With A Quickness”
Stevland Hardaway Morris also known as Stevie Wonder spoke the words below at a recent concert in Seattle. At the beginning of a rendition of his 1973 hit “Living for the City” he spoke about his feelings regarding recent events across the country. Artist, India Arie joined him along with his band.
“I don’t understand why our legal system would choose secrecy when there’s so much mistrust. I don’t understand why there could not have been a public trial where we could’ve been able to hear all sides. I just don’t understand. I’ll tell you what I do understand: I heard Eric Garner with my own ears, ‘I can’t breath.”
Later he continued “We need to fix this with a quickness”

You can also follow Mr. Wonder here on his Facebook page. It is great to see an icon like Mr. Wonder, well and performing. Also he seems to be in tune with public sentiments, very aware and present. A number of older black celebrity and public figures have made incendiary and tone deaf comments in the public recently. Its nice to see that the crazy is not “catching” for all.
